Famous country singer and “The Voice” host Kelly Clarkston has asked to be divorced from her husband Brandon Blackstock.
The Grammy award-winning singer had been estranged from her husband and now wants to make the separation official.
According to the divorce paperwork, which was filed in Los Angeles, Clarkston believes both she and her now ex-husband “deserve the opportunity to build a new life.”
The couple had two children together, daughter River, 7, and son Remington, 5.
Clarkson had initially filed for divorce last summer and was granted custody of her children. Spousal and child support will be resolved in the future.
In addition to her musical career and her work on the Voice, Clarkston has her own daytime program “the Kelly Clarkston Show” on NBC. She first rose to fame after winning the opening season of American idol in 2002.
